A deep dive into the use of FMT for improving the gut microbiota, reducing sugar cravings, and healing other non-digestive symptoms with Enid Taylor

Over 15 years ago, Enid Taylor founded the Taymount Clinic, which originally focused on gut health and colonic hydrotherapy. Flash forward to 2011, her clinic became the first in the northern hemisphere to specialize in Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT). In this episode, Enid Taylor shares how FMT became a main staple in her practice, what criteria she uses to determine who’s a good candidate for it, and what other health conditions beyond candida it’s helped her patients with. Listen in to hear the surprising benefits of FMT for gut and overall health.

There are many research-backed ways to increase quality of life and slow or prevent age-related diseases. In this episode, Dr. Greg Kelly–naturopathic physician and author of Shape Shift–expands on senolytics, a class of drugs that show positive effects on aging, brain and skin health, and anabolic resistance. Hear how senolytics, along with strength and resistance training, walking, perfecting your circadian rhythm, and consuming protein, can help you age and feel well.

Should you follow the Autoimmune-Paleo, Paleo, or low FODMAP diet to optimize your thyroid health? Are iron and HCL supplements needed to improve your thyroid symptoms? In my new thyroid course, I’ll be providing answers to these questions based on your labs, symptoms, health history, and previous response to treatment.

https://drruscio.com/thyroid-course/

In this episode, I outline how the modules in my thyroid course will help you avoid over-supplementation, broaden your diet, and ultimately find the treatment that works best for you.

Did you know that gut health is more likely to be a problem than thyroid health? What’s tricky is that gut and thyroid symptoms often overlap. In my new thyroid course, I make it simple. I’ll explain how to interpret thyroid lab results, improve gut and thyroid symptoms, and reduce or wean off of thyroid medication.

https://drruscio.com/thyroid-course/

In this episode, I cover the power of dietary and lifestyle interventions for a healthier gut and thyroid. Listen in to learn how you can naturally support your thyroid and gut health.

I’m so excited to announce that I have finally put together a course on thyroid health. I developed this course because of what I see in my clinical practice every single week: patients who have seen conventional doctors and alternative or functional medicine doctors, who have done their own research, and who still have symptoms. My clinical team and I have learned so much by obsessing over all of the latest thyroid, gut, and autoimmunity research, and by working with patients every day. I’m proud to say that we have developed a practical, evidence-based model for treating patients with persistent thyroid problems, and it works. Now, I’m sharing everything we’ve learned with you, to empower you to take back control of your thyroid, your gut, your overall health, and your life.

https://drruscio.com/thyroid-course/

In today’s episode, I’ll walk you through the first four modules of my new thyroid course, which focus on the current state of thyroid care, some of the most pervasive myths in the thyroid community, real cases studies from our clinic, how to really define your thyroid condition and interpret your labs, where the gaps are in both conventional and alternative medicine, and more.

Later, we’ll cover the treatments and diets that do and don’t work, and how to properly sequence them and put them into action so that you can feel better.

While there is a subset of people who feel better by taking T3 and T4 together, the study featured in this episode reveals potential negative side effects. This finding reiterates the importance of using therapies that work best for treating symptoms, not just lab work. Our clinic’s very own Dr. Scott went through a process of trial-and-error to find relief for his food sensitivities and heal from mold exposure. Tune in to the podcast to hear interesting insights about limbic retraining, the GUPTA program, and why the sequence of treatments is so important.

It may be easy to gloss over simple, cost-free lifestyle changes you can make to improve your health, especially when the latest new gadgets or health crazes appear. It’s important to look at what the research says. In this case, spending time in nature and developing (and sticking to) a sound sleeping routine has been proven to increase longevity, reduce stress levels, and improve sleep quality. Listen to the studies that support this evidence and how you can benefit from quality sleep and time spent outdoors.

Patients often come to our clinic wondering why they’re still experiencing symptoms despite taking thyroid medication. Come to find out, their labs and symptoms don’t correlate with a thyroid diagnosis. Instead, they find relief by discontinuing thyroid medication and improving their gut health. I've been down a similar path before—following a lab result, taking a thyroid hormone, and feeling worse, to then discovering a thyroid misdiagnosis. Listen in as I share my experience and how important it is to interpret thyroid test results correctly.

When Damien came into the clinic, he expressed how he had tried various diets, including gluten-free, vegan, low-carb, and carnivore only to still wind up with constant, severe diarrhea. He was aware that other factors, such as excessive drinking and emotional trauma, contributed to his flare-ups.

Our focus was to find what worked best for him. In his case, it was a combination of probiotics, a low FODMAP diet, and our Gut Rebuild Nutrients formula.

Damien discusses how following this protocol, along with removing unhealthy foods, reducing stress, and cutting back on drinking alcohol, allowed him to hit the reset button and feel better.

Hear how he improved his gut and overall health and what advice he has for anyone that has been in a similar situation.

In the story of modern medicine, antibiotics play the role of both hero and villain. They are often prescribed to clear up respiratory, abdominal, vaginal, pelvic, ear, sinus, and throat infections. But as with any medication, they can come with unwanted side effects. However, not all antibiotics are created equal. Some antibiotics offer more benefits and fewer risks, and vice versa. To know which these are and why it’s a must to take probiotics with them, watch our video.
